Whitehall Rowing & Sail Whitehall Rowing Boats: Can You Use The Sail And Row At The Same Time?

Whitehall Rowing Boats: Can you use the sail and row at the same time? - whitehall rowing & sail

I am interested in the boat 17 'Whitehall, but also want to know if I can the configuration of the sail and one or two rowers, both? I would be for navigation and the ocean and Catalina Island using a 21-mile trip to the next point. I do not use motor, so that when the wind is missing it would be nice to be able to line or line of sailing when the wind is light.

One Whitehall Rowing and Sail, while possible, but the wind speed and the sail number is their ability to do both affect, for example, if you are fighting against the wind and the wind angle, depending on his recovery will also increase. As you can imagine, it is difficult to row, when the boat is healing at an angle of 20 degrees. You may also have to prevent your weight into the wind, the boat from capsizing.

The Whitehall is a planning model hull and when you reach hull speed paddle, no amount of speed.

This is a small, open boat, not the best design for maritime operations. What would you do if you encounter strong winds and high waves? What happens if the boat sinks or himself? The Whitehall is not a boat righting itself and can be very difficult to save when they filled with water on the keel.

Remember that you bring to food, water, navigation, radio and other safety equipment.

My recommendation is that such a journey with a larger boat, which make in support of the CAS tourand necessity.

Good luck,

Alec

First, there is a small boat for a trip of 42 miles each way. Presentation 5 to 7 hours each way. It seems a very long day for me.

It's normal navigation with two people, one behind the arm and the other is probably the main sail at the helm. Both have enough to do without a paddle. There must be a teams of 3 to a rower.

I assume that can be connected in light winds as the chips, but only as an explosion that could fall on the boat. Surf and paddle at the same time but not very practical. It would be better in most cases, roll up the sails in the wind and do with less worries, you should better speed paddle only.

When we use the Roman and Greek specialties and manage Viking ships, why not in line with the boat?
